July 2017 Agency Spotlight: Insurance Associates of Johnson County

by | Jul 31, 2017 | Agency Spotlight

Meet the friendly faces behind Insurance Associates (IA) of Johnson County in Warrensburg, MO: Michah Wright, James (Jim) Joyner, and Christal Thomas.

Insurance Associates.pngIA’s start in the insurance industry dates back to 1896. Before becoming an independent agency, IA belonged to the Johnson County Mutual (JCM) Insurance Agency. In 1955 JCM decided it was more beneficial to become an independent agency, allowing more carrier options for customers.

Jim Joyner, Steve Mohler, and Robert Snider started working for the new and improved JCM in the 70’s. Soon after, the agency was sold to the three men and slowly but surely, they built their new insurance business up to the level of success they had always envisioned. In 1997, Mohler left the agency to pursue his passion for teaching at the University of Central Missouri (UCM). In 2000, Snider passed away, leaving Joyner as the agency’s sole owner.

Today, Jim is joined by his two faithful sidekicks, Michah and Christal. Together, these three maintain a highly successful “small town” agency in the ever-growing city of Warrensburg. In 2016, IA was awarded CFM’s Agency of the Year, due to their success as a company, commitment to the industry, and ease of doing business.
